About michelle and her Society Philosophies...
Who is not, but should be newsworthy today?
Rose Martinez
Founder of Mercy Ministries Foundation.

Over the past 25 years she built over 8 orphanages in Thailand and has just begun in Cambodia. Rose has helped to save thousands of children from sexual violence and trafficking. She has teams from all over the world donate their time to help support, physically, her orphanages.
What current events or circumstances should receive more news coverage?
300,000 children in the U.S. are at risk every year for commercial sexual exploitation. -U.S. Department of Justice

There are open sex slavery cases in all 50 States. An estimated 10,000 sex slaves exist in New York City. - Red Light Children Campaign

Investigators and researchers estimate the average predator in the U.S. can make more than $200,000 a year off one young girl. -NBC Report by Teri Williams
Who is today's most absurd role model?
Paris Hilton, Reality TV Stars, Olsen Twins (The cause of many teen and pre-teen eating disorders), and any type of Celebrity that promotes violence in any form... even in the disguise of "freedom of speech" in their music. The beating and sexual assault of women should not be condoned in any format.
What cause do you believe in enough to take action?
Violence in Schools-
There are direct correlations that lead to believe that "bullies" can lead to dating violence and sexual assault... that can lead to domestic violence. That the issues as early as middle school should not be ignored.

The American Academy of Pediatrics wants doctors to take an active role in preventing bullying in schools. They have found it has lead to dating violence among teenagers. Which has lead to a future of "acceptable" violence.

The issue at hand is during this economic crisis where school are having to cut back in staff- how do our teachers not develop " I don't want to get involved" or "I can't deal with this bully, let the next school deal with him" attitude.

Or, how can we add classes on respect and not just being an innocent bystander to violence...

That has been a new passion for me. I have just read too many stories of children taking their own lives as early as 12 because of the fear of violence at school. Or, young girls being sexually molested by bullies and just accepting it. How can we change the cycle of these kids not just growing up and becoming the victims we are so desparately trying to reduce in numbers.
For what causes have you taken action in the past?
Brothel Rescue of Children in Thailand, At Risk Youth, Autistic Children, Domestic Violence, Poor and Needy in Latin America (Honduras)
What is the best book you've read about bettering the world?
The Bible.
What is a socially-conscious website that everyone should know about?
I can give the "canned" answer which I think is a great site.... but I do have to admit there are some truly great sites of social awareness- on many topics. I am very torn to suggest just one.
