Who is not, but should be newsworthy today?
We who accept the things we cannot change, have courage to change the things we can, and strive for the wisdom to know the difference.
What current events or circumstances should receive more news coverage?
Stories about those who have the guts to get in the "trenches" here in America; our neighborhoods and even our own families and "pick one another up" instead of tearing one another down. Everyday we have opportunities to make that happen if we just get past our fears and egos. It isn't easy "being green", that's why they call it COURAGE! Fighting for our country starts right here in our own families, neighborhoods and communities and we don't have to kill and abuse one another in the process!
Who is today's most absurd role model?
Sadly enough there are absurd role models in every walk of life. Of course the most heard about are on the news everyday. The ones that concern me the most I think, are the people /parents of "yesteryear" still in denial of "their" part in how we got here and people/parents of today who still want to "sweep it all under the rug" after they see the damage it did and still do nothing to change things. The TRUTH is "not pretty", but we have to face it if we want to bring about "HEALING", which is where we must begin to change "society". "WE" did/do this, now, "WE" must deal with it. We must begin with "ourselves" and "our families" to create POSITIVE role models and then "our children" will see the absurdity out there for what it is, and not fall prey to it. It seems to me that we have a "wounded society", "raising" children who are also now wounded and we have to do what we can to "heal" one another, not tear each other down! It "takes a village" people...have the courage to "take someone by the hand" and lift them may be the only POSITIVE influence they have.
What cause do you believe in enough to take action?
Child abuse/neglect, domestic violence, substance abuse, this messed up judicial system, developmental disabilities, and children/adults who have no family support who have "learned the hard way", made mistakes along the way (haven't we all!), and are trying to make our/other lives better by admitting and learning from our mistakes and using those experiences to help others who want to "get it right".
For what causes have you taken action in the past?
Local domestic violence shelter, MADD, CHADD. unwed Mother's shelter, shelter for abused/neglected children, jails, prisons, feeding and ministering to the poor, lost and homeless and just plain helping where I can, w/ victims in my everyday walk of life, @ work, church, school and yes, sadly enough, my own "home", but I/we LIVED to tell it, and it's made me/us stronger! HALLALUYER! =)
