About Silver and her Society Philosophies...
Who is not, but should be newsworthy today?
The women and men who work long and low-paid hours in our hospitals, those people who do good in our communities and our societies, but who are very rarely recognised nationally.
If we were to recognise more of the good in our communities and societies it would show the people of these communities and societies that not every stranger around the corner is about to pounce on them. That not every hooded teenager is about to try and rob them.
What current events or circumstances should receive more news coverage?
The positive works of individuals and groups within our societies who strive to help eachother and strangers live better and happier lives.
There should be more positive news in our broadcasts, instead of the constant barrage of war, violence, anger and murder which creates an image of the world as lost, without hope of a reversal of the downward spiral trends our societies appear to be in.
Who is today's most absurd role model?
PARIS HILTON and NICOLE RICHIE, to name two, any stick insect famous woman, and any womanising famous man and all fashion and gossip magazines..
People who teach our children to that they must wear makeup to be accepted, that they must weigh nothing to be accepted, and wear close to nothing. People who teach young boys and young men that in order to be popular they must treat women like pieces of meat, carry a gun, never show emotion, have a six pack and look asthough they have been airbrushed. (which is impossible)
People who teach our children and our communities that reporting a crime is wrong are most definately the most absurd role models on the planet.
What cause do you believe in enough to take action?
I believe in the rights of all children, to live in a world free from abuse, exploitation, deprivation and violence. I believe that children should be allowed to enjoy their childhood, that childhood should be a sacred time where the innocence of children is protected.
I believe in the rights of women to be equal to men in all areas of the law, and in society as a whole. How cana society hope to flourish when half of the population suffers under repression.
I believe in the rights of gay men and lesbian women, that marriage between gay men and lesibian women should be seen as equal to the marriage between a heterosexual couple. That love between two people is still love no matter what their sexual orientation. I also believe that gay men and lesbian women should have the right to adpot or via AI or surrogate raise children without the social discrimination that comes with the decision. A loving environment does not have to be a father and a mother, but two people who love eachother purely and love their children purely this is the kind of environment children need to flourish in.
For what causes have you taken action in the past?
In the past I have marched against the BNP in the UK, their messages of intolerance and hate can not be tolerated in a country which is loosing itself to fear and mistrust.
I have raised money for orphans in Moscow, Russia.
What is the best book you've read about bettering the world?
I have read a few books concerning the bettering of the world and as of yet have not come across one which in my opinion truly offers a way forward, without leaving someone behind.
What is a socially-conscious website that everyone should know about?
because everyone at some point during their day needs something cute to look at that can only bring them happiness and joy.
