What current events or circumstances should receive more news coverage?
I believe that the problem is not the coverage, it is awareness and perception. When I first came to the US and watched the Channel 5 KTLA news, I was amazed: that day I had learned that some cat had been rescued from a tree somewhere, some celebrity had been in trouble for DUI - the reporter were just chatting along and having a good time ... sad is, that this seems to be what a lot of the people in this area want to see: "What is going on in my community?" "What is the newest trend in fashion?" What I try to say is that people need to actually wake up and WANT to know about the issues our world is facing. I wish more people would be like the members of this website and start caring about the 6.7 billion people around them & positively influence others, instead of worrying about what color their new shoes or car should be ... !
Who is today's most absurd role model?
Everybody who got sucked in by that money driven society, thinking that what they present to the outside (house, car, new surgically "adjusted" body, clothes, jewelry ...) is WHO they actually are and what seems to be their entire focus in life!!! This includes a lot of Hollywood celebrities ...

Oh, and not sure if the US government really serves as a "role model" for anybody, but just in case it does: DEFINITELY the most absurd one!!!
(reminds me of that video: War On Zombies)
What cause do you believe in enough to take action?
- hunger
- poverty / homelessness
- violence / child abuse
- drug addiction
- environmental issues
- war
For what causes have you taken action in the past?
Support to homeless and/or drug addicts - I actually also tried to talk to some of them and especially listen to their stories, because I guess just as bad as living your life in the streets is the fact that the world around you totally ignores you, careless, as if you would be invisible. Listening to what they have to say could give them new hope and lead to a positive change in their lives.

I also love nature & do my best to protect the environment in my daily life (organic food & products, recycling, etc.)

This site really inspires me to do more though ...
What is the best book you've read about bettering the world?
Unfortunately, I haven't really read a book about bettering the world yet. I think reading in general is very important - about everything, as much as you can ("knowledge is power" ;-)) !!
I personally like to read books that help me grow on a spiritual level - like "The Power of Now" (Eckhart Tolle), "The Alchemist" (Paulo Coelho) or "Siddhartha" (Hermann Hesse) for example.
What is a socially-conscious website that everyone should know about?
Those links are great for anybody who would like to make a difference, but never finds the time or money to do so:

On each of these websites, you can click a button to support the cause -- each click creates funding, and costs you nothing! Bookmark these sites, and click once a day!
